Students will learn how to make their subjects look as if you can see through them. Also they will learn how to use clean, pure, transparent watercolor washes. They start out with Small Color Study paintings, where students will learn how to get glowing colors, on the first day. Then, they will increase the size and add new techniques the next day. They will pick a familiar subject and paint it in a totally different way, using everything that we’ve learned on the first day. Students will make their ordinary paintings into extraordinary paintings. Check out "Pear Illusion" and "Orchid Dreams" on my website, to see the type of paintings that we will be doing. |

This workshop will be primarily a watercolor class, but additional media will be offered to expand the imagination of the student. The objective of this class is to expand the imagination, simplify shapes, and create clean, glowing colors! 30 minute studies will help students think in simple terms and create great design in their paintings. Special techniques such as working with graphite and pouring water over paper to create interesting textures will be offered. Also, collage and patchwork techniques will add to the fun!
